Why Study 自由研究 at Rivier?

Rivier’s 自由研究 program offers you the flexibility to tailor your degree to your individual career interests. You will gain insight into a variety of topics along with significant study in a humanities discipline of your choice, from the fields of art 历史, 历史, 语言, 文学, 哲学, or religious studies.

As a 自由研究 major, you can expect to acquire a well-developed capacity for independent thought, the ability to think, 写, and speak critically, and an appreciation of the past as a backdrop for understanding contemporary life and society.

For greater flexibility, Rivier offers both an Associate of Arts 通识教育 degree and a Bachelor of Arts in Liberals degree. Our liberal arts-centered programs are widely recognized as valuable not only in producing a well-rounded, truly educated person, but also in providing a strong foundation for any number of careers in our rapidly changing world.

In this program you will:

Get Ready for the World

You will have the opportunity to conduct an internship at a variety of sites that match your career goals. You’ll gain resume-building experience and the opportunity to build your professional network ahead of graduation.

Several on-campus clubs and organizations offer leadership and co-curricular opportunities to enhance your overall education. You can also take advantage of opportunities to study abroad and participate in faculty-led teaching trips that will supplement your classroom learning.

B.A. 通识教育 prepares you for a wide range of master’s degree programs, as well. Those students who choose to further their education, either immediately after graduation or years later, will have the strong educational base needed to advance to graduate study.
